“The most that any physician can do in treating disease is render operative the natural forces within the patient’s body”
(Dr. Andrew Taylor Still)
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a wonderful practice that provides a concrete healing system for the body. It is a form of ‘hands on” manual Healthcare that practices the art of healing by applying a deep understanding of anatomy (body structure) and physiology (body function) to diagnose and treat a broad range of Health conditions.
Osteopathy has developed a deep insight into the true nature of the human body - that all parts and systems of the body are inter-connected, they inter-are and cannot be separated from each other, as well as expressing the inherent capacity for self-healing and self-regulation to maintain homeostasis (Health) and to prevent ill-Health – the body is the sum of all its parts, one part is contained in all parts of the body, and all parts of the body are contained in the one part. The body can heal, and healing is within the body.
These insights are central to Osteopathic practice and are applied to the Osteopathic consult, assessment and treatment which forms a patient-centred approach to promote Health and Well-Being within the body.

The aim of the Osteopath is to free the fluids and the forces within the body – free irritated nerves and restore blood-flow in the body and all its parts in order to relieve pain, tensions, strains, dis-ease.
